Holiday Block Party

Premieres Saturday, November 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT

Three designers get three days to transform three homes on one cul-de-sac into the ultimate Holiday Block Party with a fun and modern vibe. Designer Antonio Ballatore rocks the holidays with a bold and shimmering take on his celebration. Another Design Star winner, Meg Caswell, tackles Chanamas – an original hybrid of Chanukah and Christmas. Newcomer Tracy Porter brings an ethnic flare to her design with a South American-inspired transformation. At the end of three days, host Tanika Ray reveals the amazing final designs along with a special surprise of her own that takes the Holiday Block Party to a whole new level.

Tracy, come back to us!!! I realize that sounds selfish but…what the hell happened? You have inspired us for years. So, fire ‘em all, start over, do what you do! You are so amazingly talented and what the heck am I suppose to wear? I hope and pray you all are well (my Christian side) and get back in the damn game. Seriously, sincerely, truly, all the best (God help us all if I have to run around naked), Tina

Good morning all….I am Ready! I cannot wait to see what Tracy and her team did to that house. I know I am a little biased but I know she will be the BEST of the three designers. I am almost done with my holiday shopping because I read a post somewhere and decided to act on it. It said to buy “services” for people this season instead of “things” like car wash, house cleaning, nail salon, spa, babysitting “certificates” for friends and family. It serves two purposes 1) it’s great for the economy bc it helps people who are working in your community and 2) no one is going to regift a house cleaning gift certificate! Hope everyone is doing well, really miss hearing from Tracyl on the blog…but who knows maybe we’ll get to see her on TV weekly which would be great fun. We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed!!!!

LOVES! ….. I am so here, I am thankful for each of you, for your love, your thoughts, for you being you and your commitment . I cannot tell you.
I am busy as you know, trying to do good things on all fronts, creating new, creating from my heart. Grace is something we all must embrace through thick and thin..sometimes it’s easier than others, i am grateful to have explored all sides, as odd as it can feel, we are all better for the lovely wisdom it brings in its vivid palette . i know you know. I have never been more optimistic….and that is a dig deep comment. It’s an…. i know who i am, i believe in who i am, I am growing, I am every changing, I am gratefully creative and thankful that this is my passion..every minute of everyday. Those of you that have followed & have embraced our creativity….new to us or following us for nearly 20 years…you are the ones that I adore…that i praise, that i raise my glass to…. Thanksgiving is coming….I have much to be thankful for…ups, downs…all of it, this is where you learn the real stuff.
Cheers, love, and happiness to each of you.

Tracy- I am so glad and excited to see you are updating your blog as often as you can. I can’t wait to see “Holiday Block Party”. Please hurry up and come back to us with your next amazing chapter in your life. It’g going to be A MAZIMG!!!!!!

I’m taking a break from decorating my tree. It’s usually up the weekend after Halloween so that my family can enjoy it for several months and we can all get in the holiday spirit. This year I was going back and forth between my parents in Scottsdale and me in Los Angeles because of my dad’s health. He’s fine and will be coming home Wednesday. I have a lot to be greatful for… that my path has crossed yours and your wonderful world, I have a job, my parents are still married after 46 years, their health, and they are still with my sister and I. I am also thankful for a fabulous husband, who puts up with me and all that I am. On a lighter note- you need to hurry up and come back or I will be like Tina and have nothing to wear :)

T~ I am here ready and waiting for all you have to offer. I completely “get” being grateful for the ups and downs…so many challenges for us in the last year and half, I have wished many days for my “old life” back, but knowing that exploring both sides has changed me for the better. Wishing you and your lovely family a Happy Thanksgiving…you know Lucy and I have been in the video archives for lots of inspiration…we never tire :)

My dvr is set! Yes, I will watch it real time, but also want to be able to enjoy it again later. I, too, have been trolling through your archived blog posts and podcasts for inspiration as I gear up for the holidays. So much goodness you’ve blessed us with. So glad those are still up! I love your wares, but I think what would send me over the proverbial edge is if I wasn’t able to access your WORDS, via blog posts, videos and podcasts, anymore! I view you as a mentor, albeit from afar. Patiently and expectantly waiting for MORE from you! Happy Thanksgiving!

So hubby and I are getting out the decorations today…he just got the all clear on his cancer and let me tell you…we are celebrating! I have learned that life goes on during good days and bad…we found ways to have fun in the bad, and now that we’ve made it through the dark days, we’ve decided to reinvent ourselves…lol. Believe me, I’m going to watch some of your old Tracy TV’s for opera inspiration :) …. Smile!
I set my TiVo last night for the show…just incase! Can’t wait…

Hey Tracy!!!!!!!!!!! So great to hear from you I miss you, and I’m so happy you and your family are well! I too can not wait for Holiday block party!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so exciting!!!!!!You made my day today just to hear your voice, this has been a tough year for us, and I guess the worse is still to come, you all know how that is with sickness, It’s both of my in laws at this point. And so of course I’m most worried about hubby who has had so much on his plate this year….after a very bad car accident last year he is still waiting for his disability to go through….very stressful to say the least. Anyway I don’t have to tell you about a bump in the road right?!And that’s all it is, you always remind me to see it that way, at least for my husbands trauma, peoples health we can not change unfortunately, but I am so grateful for so many other things….and one of them is you T.Love to you and all my birds, and a very Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!!!!!!xoxoxxooRach

Hang in there Rachel…life does change…hate that sometimes! Our journey lasted four years. It was really hard, but I thought as soon as my husband was “cured” we’d go back to those two people we used to be. We haven’t, and I don’t think we will…but that’s okay! One day at a time…one step at a time!
We’ve worked all day on getting our decorations up. Feels good, even if we’ve pared them down considerably. Again, that’s okay :)
Happy Turkey Day!

Well it is a Thanksgiving miracle to hear from you Miss Tracy! (and this from a Canuck who celebrated her Thanksgiving over a month ago!)

You continue to inspire is with your grace and joie de vivre! I was thinking of you on the weekend – my dear husband said “Whatever happened to that beautiful woman who moved to California with her company and then they had economy troubles?” He was so pleased when I told him about your upcoming show – he loved watching your videos with me and especially ones that involved food and alcohol – he thought Uncle Margarita was a genius!

I won’t see your special for a few weeks – HGTV Canada is not playing it till mid-December. I am hoping it will be on the HGTV.com website or you tubed before then!

Tracy – much love to you and yours – you give us so much delight! Take the time you need to come back and know we are all here with open arms!

Hello all! I think I need to go out and buy a DVR, I am afraid we have too many relatives over for me to stop and watch TV while they are all here. Tracy so good to hear your words! I read the Chicago Tribune article, ah, yes I have been there with life changes and wanting to capture what used to be….but you will redesign your life, and I imagine there will threads of the old life intertwined and it will be lovely! You will see!!!!! You only get one life, live it the way you desire! Happy Thanksgiving, I have to get going preparing for all my guests! STill have to work all day tomorrow and a half a day on Wednesday…lots and lots of over night guests, such fun!

Anyone buy “Honest Tea?”….love the quotes on the bottle tops….! Here are some of my favorites that pull my heartstrings!
“If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” (Frank Clark)
“A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are made for.” (William Shedd)
“You can’t change the wind, but you can adjust your sails.” (Unknown)
“Bread and water can so easily be toast and tea.” (Maele Moore)
“Good timber does not grow with ease, the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees.” (Douglas Malloch)
